May 19, 2017: Puerto Rican Singer/Songwriter/Activist Ani Cordero presents songs from her repertoire including re-imagined songs by Latin American songwriters from the turbulent “Nueva Cancion” era such as Victor Jara, Violeta Parra, Chavela Vargas, and Atahualpa Yupanqui. Program includes music from “Querido Mundo”, an album of original protest and love songs addressing themes of immigration, BlackLivesMatter, Feminism, and government corruption. Her music has received critical acclaim from NPR’s All Things Considered, Alt-Latino, Billboard, USA Today, and more.
