On tour to promote their newest record, Blutopia on Sunnyside Records, Detroit baritone saxophonist Alex Harding and Transylvanian expat pianist Lucian Ban bring their incredible quintet, the Tuba Project, to the Puffin Cultural Forum. This stellar ensemble of skilled musicians showcases the finely-tuned rapport they’ve developed over decades of collaboration. Their latest record and live performances transcend expectations of the jazz genre.

The music on Blutopia is mysterious yet rooted, filled with pulsating blues, New Orleans riffs, eastern European folk, funk grooves, and free-jazz outbursts that come together in an exciting and unique sound. The quintet features Lucian Ban on piano, Alex Harding on baritone saxophone, Mat Maneri on viola, and Brandon Lewis on drums. They will be joined by legendary tuba player, Bob Stewart!
