The best way to honor his memory is to sing and organize against fascism and in support of peace\, civil rights\, and the environment\, and that is exactly what we will do. \nJoin us on Sunday\, May 17th at 4:00PM on the lawn of the Puffin Cultural Forum\, where the Solidarity Singers of the New Jersey State Industrial Union Council will lead us in song in front of our Pete Seeger statue. The event will be recorded. \nFood and refreshments will be served. Event will be moved indoors in event of rain. \nThe Solidarity Singers of the NJ IUC are a street chorus\, not a concert choir. For nearly thirty years\, they have appeared at rallies\, picket lines\, demonstrations\, and meetings for progressive causes throughout New Jersey and beyond. Their motto says it all: “Only a few of us know how to read music\, but we all know which side we are on.” They lift the spirits of people engaged in struggle and help them carry on. \nOn the 17th\, we will all become Solidarity Singers. We will sing new and old songs\, some from Pete’s own repertoire and some newly created. Song sheets will be distributed. Come with your voice\, come with your spirit\, and help us build a singing movement for a better world! \nFREE\nRSVP below\, OR call: 201-836-3499 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Friday\, June 5 \n \n \n Time: 7:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: $10.00 \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file	\n\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n Play\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n videoTextBlockModalblock_4620e47e17c4389454fd5b533981445eTitle\n \n ×\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Your browser does not support the video tag.\n \n \n \n \n \n Close Popup\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prepare For Your Visit\nGot your reservations? The piece utilizes creative borrowing from a multitude of different composers and gives the listener the feeling that the music is completely improvised. \nFollowing Jake Hart’s solo piano performance\, jazz guitarist John Hart will perform standards and original music with his trio\, featuring Bill Moring on bass and Andy Watson on drums. The evening’s program will feature selections from his latest album New Mantra\, released last year under SteepleChase Records. The project marks John’s 17th album as leader. \nJake Hart is a pianist and composer signed with Sunnyside Records\, which released his debut album Collage in 2024. The album received praise in Los Angeles Jazz Scene\, where Scott Yanow wrote about how “the two Parts sound spontaneous and bridge the gap between modern classical music and jazz.” In addition\, Jake has also participated in a multitude of international competitions and has performed at notable venues including Birdland Jazz Club\, Mezzrow and the Umbria Jazz Festival. \nA fixture on the New York music scene for 40 years\, John Hart has distinguished himself as a band leader with 17 CDs (including releases on such prestigious labels as Blue Note and Concord) as well as a first-call sideman to the stars\, including a sixteen-year tenure with organist Jack McDuff. After witnessing the police shooting of her childhood friend Khalil\, Starr struggles to find her voice while speaking out against injustice. The film explores race\, activism\, family\, and the power of using your voice to create change. \nContent warning:\nThis film depicts police brutality\, gun violence\, and racial violence. \nFollowing the screening\, there will be a community discussion focused on identity\, social justice\, youth voice\, and community impact. The moderators of the TalkBack are both Teaneck High School graduates and community leaders. \nThe committee’s goal is to bring youth out for this important film because many of the themes are relatable to what young people experience and discuss today. The film also connects to topics and books students are currently reading in school\, making it both meaningful and timely. \nFREE\nRSVP below\, OR call: 201-836-3499 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Friday\, June 5 \n \n \n Time: 7:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: $10.00 \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file	\n\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n The Hate U Give | Official Trailer [HD] | 20th Century FOX\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n Play\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n videoTextBlockModalblock_28b5a3be427c05805811feb100db1ba2Title\n \n ×\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Your browser does not support the video tag.\n \n \n \n \n \n Close Popup\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prepare For Your Visit\nGot your reservations? Even if you think you know a lot about peregrines\, prepare to be surprised! PLUS\, as an added bonus\, Jim will be displaying a racing-pigeon leg band that he retrieved from a peregrine pellet! \nBooklist magazine raves: “Full of personal anecdotes from Wright’s many years as a nest monitor and hawk watcher and quotes from scientists and early naturalists and richly illustrated with beautiful color photos\, this will be the peregrine primer for years to come.” \nIn addition to this go-to book on peregrine falcons\, Jim Wright has written “The Screech Owl Companion\,” “The Real James Bond\,” “The Nature of the Meadowlands\,” and several other books. He monitors nesting peregrines for the state of New Jersey in the spring\, coordinates the State Line Hawk Watch in the fall\, and writes a birding column for “The Record” in Northern New Jersey every two weeks. He is a deputy marsh warden at the Celery Farm Nature Preserve in Allendale. \nFREE\nRSVP below\, OR call: 201-836-3499 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Friday\, June 5 \n \n \n Time: 7:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: $10.00 \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file	\n\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prepare For Your Visit\nGot your reservations? The show brings to life the uncompromising story of one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars. From headline-making romances with William Wyler and Howard Hughes to her infamous Oscar upset and fearless battles against the male-dominated studio system\, Davis’ story is one of  ambition and defiance. \nThis updated performance also highlights Davis’ role as a trailblazer in standing up to the studio system and helping pave the way for stronger protections and rights for artists. On-screen\, she portrayed complex\, unapologetic women; off-screen\, she fought for equal pay\, creative control\, and longevity in an industry that often denied women all three. \nBy turns humorous and deeply moving\, Bette Davis Ain’t for Sissies captures the enduring legacy of a woman who refused to be silenced. \nFasten your seatbelts—it’s going to be a bumpy ride. \n– \nSuggested Donation: $10\nBUY TICKETS below\, OR call: 201-836-3499 \nIf you cannot pay the suggested donation\, please call 201-836-3499 or email aortega@puffinfoundation.org to ask for free reservation(s).
