Even if you think you know a lot about peregrines\, prepare to be surprised! PLUS\, as an added bonus\, Jim will be displaying a racing-pigeon leg band that he retrieved from a peregrine pellet! \nBooklist magazine raves: “Full of personal anecdotes from Wright’s many years as a nest monitor and hawk watcher and quotes from scientists and early naturalists and richly illustrated with beautiful color photos\, this will be the peregrine primer for years to come.” \nIn addition to this go-to book on peregrine falcons\, Jim Wright has written “The Screech Owl Companion\,” “The Real James Bond\,” “The Nature of the Meadowlands\,” and several other books. He monitors nesting peregrines for the state of New Jersey in the spring\, coordinates the State Line Hawk Watch in the fall\, and writes a birding column for “The Record” in Northern New Jersey every two weeks. He is a deputy marsh warden at the Celery Farm Nature Preserve in Allendale. \nFREE\nRSVP below\, OR call: 201-836-3499 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Sunday\, June 14 \n \n \n Time: 4:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: Free \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file	\n\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prepare For Your Visit\nGot your reservations? After witnessing the police shooting of her childhood friend Khalil\, Starr struggles to find her voice while speaking out against injustice. The film explores race\, activism\, family\, and the power of using your voice to create change. \nContent warning:\nThis film depicts police brutality\, gun violence\, and racial violence. \nFollowing the screening\, there will be a community discussion focused on identity\, social justice\, youth voice\, and community impact. The moderators of the TalkBack are both Teaneck High School graduates and community leaders. \nThe committee’s goal is to bring youth out for this important film because many of the themes are relatable to what young people experience and discuss today. The film also connects to topics and books students are currently reading in school\, making it both meaningful and timely. \nFREE\nRSVP below\, OR call: 201-836-3499 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Sunday\, June 14 \n \n \n Time: 4:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: Free \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file	\n\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n \n The Hate U Give | Official Trailer [HD] | 20th Century FOX\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n Play\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n videoTextBlockModalblock_e66addf30fc21cecfc3de3d40b9d5fcfTitle\n \n ×\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Your browser does not support the video tag.\n \n \n \n \n \n Close Popup\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prepare For Your Visit\nGot your reservations? Educational and poetic\, the book documents Torino’s upbringing in the wetlands area of northern New Jersey\, which lies along the Atlantic Flyway\, a major migration route for millions of birds. The Meadowlands have been subject to destruction for a few centuries. But in recent years\, some small sections of it have been rehabilitated. \nTorino says: “Growing up in the Meadowlands was special. It is a time long gone\, that can never be relived again. We will talk about what it was like and how it forever guided my life to this day\, as president of Bergen County Audubon Society. We grew up with nature all around us… there were still farm stands and horse stables\, and fishermen\, trappers\, and hunters were part of the culture. We were in a different world\, almost isolated – and although I did not realize it at the time\, it was a very special place to grow up.” \nLife in the Meadowlands offers insightful views of how each of us impact our world and reminds us of the beauty around us. No matter where you live\, this book will inspire you to take a closer look at the natural world around you and to take better care of it. \nTorino is a sage and tireless environmental leader\, naturalist\, speaker\, and advocate for wildlife and conservation\, particularly within the Meadowlands area. As President of Bergen County Audubon Society\, he helps educate the public on the importance of native plants and wildlife habitats. He has been recognized for his presentations that engage attendees in the natural world and their power to protect it. \nFREE\nRSVP below\, OR call: 201-836-3499 (Must call before Thurs. 2/12 at 5PM) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Sunday\, June 14 \n \n \n Time: 4:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: Free \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file	\n\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prepare For Your Visit\nGot your reservations? Leifer provides an illuminating and meticulously reported map of contemporary Jewish life and a sober conjecture about its future. As it traverses today’s Jewish landscape through uncommon personal familiarity with the widest range of Jewish experience\, Tablets Shattered also charts the universal quest to build enduring communities amid historical and political rupture. \nJoshua Leifer is a journalist\, editor\, and translator. His essays and reporting have appeared widely in international publications\, including The New York Review of Books\, The New York Times\, The Guardian\, The New Statesman\, Haaretz\, The Nation\, and elsewhere. A member of the Dissent editorial board\, he previously worked as an editor at Jewish Currents and at +972 Magazine. He is currently pursuing a PhD at Yale University\, where his research focuses on the history of modern moral and social thought. \nThis interview will premiere on our Youtube channel on Sunday\, December 8th 2024 at 4:00PM! \nView the video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63Ld17s8J_Q \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Sunday\, June 14 \n \n \n Time: 4:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: Free \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file

Thank you! \nAbout Chomsky and the book: \nNoam Chomsky is a pioneering scholar in the field of linguistics\, but he is better known as a public intellectual: an iconoclastic\, radical critic of US politics and foreign policy. Chomsky’s Challenge examines most of the major subjects Chomsky has dealt with in his nearly half century of intellectual activism–the Vietnam War\, America’s broader international role (especially its interventions in the Third World)\, the structure of power in American politics\, the role of the media and of intellectuals in forming public opinion\, and American foreign policy in the post-Cold War world. \nChomsky is as controversial as he is influential. Admirers see him as a courageous teller of unpleasant truths about political power and those who wield it in the United States. Critics view him as a propagandist and ideologue who sees only black and white where there are multiple shades of gray. While Chomsky’s fans tend to view him uncritically\, his critics often don’t take him seriously. Unlike any previous work\, this book takes Chomsky seriously while treating him critically. The author gives Chomsky credit for valuable contributions to our understanding of the contemporary political world but spares no criticism of the serious deficiencies he sees in Chomsky’s political analyses. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date: Sunday\, June 14 \n \n \n Time: 4:00 PM \n \n Location: \n \n \n 20 Puffin Way \n \n Teaneck \n \n New Jersey \n \n 07666 \n \n \n \n Cost: Free \n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n \n Add to calendar \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n Google Calendar	\n\n \n\n	\n iCalendar	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook 365	\n\n \n\n	\n Outlook Live	\n\n \n\n	\n Export .ics file	\n\n \n\n	\n Export Outlook .ics file	\n\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Prepare For Your Visit\nGot your reservations? The book takes readers on a uniquely personal journey through the legendary folksinger and songwriter’s remarkable life and career. Minimally edited to preserve Seeger’s trademark cadence\, the book is punctuated by historical images and commentary by David Bernz\, as well as remembrances from other musicians and friends and a foreword by Arlo Guthrie. Readers will come to know Pete more deeply as they hear this gentle\, principled man’s voice\, and bear witness to his humility and willingness to respect those whose opinions differed greatly from his own—vital qualities in these troubled and divisive times. \n“There is no one more important as a source of inspiration and process in the world of folk music than Pete.” – Peter Yarrow (from Peter\, Paul & Mary) \n  \nN95 or equivalent masks required. Limited quantity will be available at the door for those without one. \nSuggested Donation: $10 \nRSVP at: https://choppingwoodatpuffin.eventbrite.com \nOr call: 201-836-3499 \nIf you cannot pay the suggested donation\, please call 201-836-3499 or email aortega@puffinfoundation.org to make free reservation(s). He is the founder and editor-in-chief of The National Memo\, and is the editor of Type Investigations\, a nonprofit journalism center. He has authored two New York Times best-selling books: The Hunting of the President and Big Lies: The Right-Wing Propaganda Machine and How It Distorts the Truth. \nThe on-stage discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A. \nN95 or equivalent masks required. Limited quantity will be available at the door for those without one. \nSuggested Donation: $10 \nRSVP at: https://thelongestconatpuffin.eventbrite.com \nOr call: 201-836-3499 \nIf you cannot pay the suggested donation\, please call 201-836-3499 or email aortega@puffinfoundation.org to make free reservation(s).
