He will be joined by two exceptional German musicians: Peter Weniger on tenor saxophone and Jonas Burgwinkel on drums. \nThe trio’s debut album Gravity (2023\, Laika Records) was celebrated internationally; the legendary Down Beat Magazine drew comparisons to Sonny Rollins’ legendary Way Out West. \nTheir special guest will be pianist Glenn Zaleski\, who’s been one of the rising stars of the international jazz scene over the past years\, playing with saxophonist Melissa Aldena and vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant\, among others. \nBorn in Flensburg\, Germany\, Martin Wind is among the most accomplished German jazz musicians working in the United States today. Known for his warm tone\, lyrical phrasing\, and stylistic breadth\, Wind is equally active as a soloist\, composer\, and sought-after sideman. He has performed and recorded with artists such as Mstislav Rostropovich\, John Scofield\, Pat Metheny\, Ken Peplowski\, Anat Cohen\, Philip Catherine\, Michael Brecker\, Ann Hampton Callaway\, and Sting\, and has contributed to numerous film soundtracks including True Grit\, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty\, and Gemini Man. As member of the Kennedy Center Honors Orchestra\, he has also appeared with world stars Aretha Franklin\, John Legend\, James Taylor\, Reneé Fleming\, and Herbie Hancock.
