Exhibition Opening: ALTE
Exhibition Opening
Join us for the opening of our newest exhibition, ALTE – adapted from the Yiddish word for old. This show features the artwork and prose of a Jewish community reflecting on getting older.
This exhibit draws its works from ALTE: Getting Old Together, an occasionally published broadsheet and website that presents art, photography, writing, and music created by Jewish contributors dealing with the joys, challenges, and many surprises of aging. Each issue is based on a theme that is open for interpretation by the contributors. Six of these themes are featured in our show: “Getting Old Together,” ‘Then and Now,” “Suddenly,” “Earth,” “Non-Human Beings,” and “The Future.”
ALTE: Getting Old Together was founded by three creatives who previously worked at Jewish Currents — Lawrence Bush (editor emeritus), Esther Cohen (art consultant emeritus), and Jessica de Koninck (editorial board).
Artists will be in attendance to share about their work and to answer questions from the audience. Light refreshments will be served.
