Pianist Kariné Poghosyan will kick off the Puffin Cultural Forum’s fall season with her electrifying program “Khachaturian, Liszt, Gershwin.” The Award-winning Armenian-American pianist’s most recent concerts include two sold-out shows at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, which was the release of her “Rachmaninoff and Stravinsky” recording on Centaur Records.

During the COVID19 lockdown Ms. Poghosyan launched a weekly online livestream mini concert series, with an entirely new program performed each week for a loyal world-wide following. These series have received coverage from Stephanie Simon of NY1, Rick Rowe of ABC, Katie Couric’s newsletter Wake-up Call, as well as in an article in the Pianist Magazine.

For her return to the Puffin, Kariné Poghosyan will perform Aram Khachaturian’s beloved Toccata and Adagio (from the ballet Spartacus), and the behemoth of Khachaturian’s solo piano output, the exhilarating Piano Sonata written in 1961. In the second half of the program, Ms. Poghosyan will perform two works by Franz Liszt – his effervescent Concert Etude “Un Sospiro” and the iconic tournament of octaves, his Hungarian Rhapsody no.6! The grand finale of the program will be George Gershwin’s beloved Rhapsody in Blue.
