Classical Sundays: Charlotte Hu
Music Concert
Award-winning Taiwanese-American pianist Charlotte Hu will present a rare and complete performance of Enrique Granados’ monumental work Goyescas—a suite inspired by the paintings of Spanish master Francisco Goya. This seldom-heard complete cycle captures the romantic passion and dramatic intensity of Goya’s tapestry designs through Granados’ deeply expressive musical language. This Forum performance represents a special preview of the same repertoire that Charlotte will record for PENTATONE in the Netherlands, offering audiences an intimate opportunity to experience her interpretation before it reaches the international recording stage. The performance will be enhanced by Charlotte’s personal commentary and insights, offering audiences both musical artistry and educational context for this remarkable work that bridges visual art and musical expression.
Hu is the winner of both the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition and Concert Artists Guild Competition. She is active internationally as a performer, educator, and founder, currently serving on the faculty at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and the Temple University in Philadelphia. Her last recording “Liszt Metamorphosis” was released on PENTATONE in 2024, and she will follow this with a second release featuring “Goyescas” with the same prestigious label in June 2026. Charlotte founded and directs the PYPA Piano Festival in Philadelphia, which has gained international recognition as the “cradle of future piano stars.”
