Steinway Artist, composer and jazz teacher Lenore Raphael, influenced by Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell and Bill Evans, has performed to rave reviews and standing ovations at such prestigious venues as Jazz at Lincoln Center among numerous others. Her latest recording, “Loverly,” with Howard Alden, was released in May and has been nominated for a Grammy. Lenore returns to the Puffin, along with Jack Wilkins (guitar) and Kelly Friesen (bass), to pay tribute to Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Hart and other legendary songwriters of the Great American Songbook, as well as to play some of her own original tunes. Jack, an internationally-known musician and accompanist, has played and recorded with the best, including Mel Torme, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, and Sarah Vaughn. Canadian-born Kelly, a regular with the Woody Allen New Orleans Jazz Band from 1997-2001, is one of the premiere “slap” bassists in NYC and works with many notable jazz groups in the city’s finest jazz clubs. The three together create a memorable evening of jazz!
