Recently performed at the National Black Theatre Festival, The Southern Boys is a bluesy musical that explores the life of emancipated slaves who became sharecroppers. One young sharecropper has hopes of a life that is beyond the field. He convinces others to take a chance and leave the Black Codes of the Mississippi Delta behind. This play is written by Kathy D. Harrison, founder and managing artistic director for the Diversity Youth Theater.
